The Ambleside and Dundarave piers that were damaged in a storm surge early this year will likely open again next year.
Both piers sustained significant structural damage during a storm surge on January 7. Since the storm, work has been underway to conduct structural assessments and determine insurance eligibility for the cost of repairs.
It has been confirmed that the piers are insured for the damage they sustained due to the storm, and staff are now beginning work on detailed drawings and are planning repairs for the Ambleside Pier and floating dock at the Dundarave Pier, said District of West Vancouver.
Depending on budget approvals and permit requirements, the piers could potentially be open for public use in June 2023. For those looking to cool down from the heat, a swimming dock at Dundarave Beach is now open for the summer.
