BC is encouraging people and especially parents to get their kids vaccinated against influenza before the holidays.
Vancouver Coastal Health is offering walk-in influenza immunizations on Dec 10, and from 13 to 17, as part of government’s efforts to support people and families with children to get vaccinated before the holidays.
The vaccination clinic is set up at ICBC Claim Centre at 225 Lloyd Avenue in North Vancouver. The clinic is for ages six month and older.
December 6-10, December 13-17
9:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
There is no need to call ahead or make an appointment and people can simply show up with their BC Services Card. An appointment can also be made through the Get Vaccinated system. Those who also need a COVID-19 shot can also get it at the same time.
Influenza and COVID-19 immunizations are free for everyone six months and older, and they are safe with mild side-effects that are typically very mild and go away on their own within a few days.
Many children have not been exposed to influenza and other respiratory illnesses following two years of low influenza rates due to COVID-19 public-health prevention measures implemented worldwide, including Canada and B.C. This is why it’s especially important for children to get vaccinated against influenza now.
