Just after noon on March 6, a pedestrian called police to report that a man was walking around the Downtown Eastside with an uncapped needle and trying to poke people with it.
Police responded quickly and found the man running into traffic, with the uncapped needle still in his hand.
He would not follow the officers’ directions and a struggle ensued.
The needle dropped out of his hand, but the man continued to resist, trying to grab the needle again. Officers used a taser, and the man was safely taken into custody.
No one was injured. The suspect also had outstanding warrants.
