Police have arrested two suspects in an attempted break-in that took place in the Westmount neighborhood of West Vancouver.
Police say a local resident out for a walk noticed two men hurrying to a parked van. The resident got suspicion when an alarm also rang out from a house. Police say information provided by the resident helped officers find the suspects.
“Detailed information from the caller played a vital role in helping officers locate the suspect vehicle and safely arrest two men with assistance from North Vancouver RCMP and Vancouver Police Department,” says Jeff Palmer, the Block Watch Captain for WVPD.
Police say the alarm was triggered by an attempt to break into a 2nd floor window at the Westmount home. Nothing was stolen, but the police investigation continues. Police is urging residents to protect their home and assess if an alarm system covers any potentially accessible doors or windows.
“Ladders or any other items that could be used to climb to a vulnerable entry point should be stored indoors or secured outside so they cannot be moved to help offenders. Remember trees or other landscaping features close to your home can serve as ‘natural ladders’. We urge all to regularly review security provisions at home or work,” Palmer says.
