The Museum of North Vancouver has published a children’s book on the historic Streetcar 153.
The book has been penned by Carol Ballard, the program coordinator for MONOVA. The new children’s book called The Journey of Streetcar 153 tells the story of MONOVA’s star artifact, which can be seen in the lobby of the Museum of North Vancouver, located at 115 West Esplanade. The book is available exclusively in the MONOVA Museum Store, and makes for a great holiday gift.
The book has been illustrated by two local artists, Elise Saatchi and Seoyeon Jeoung, as part of a Young Canada Works internship. MONOVA has published the book through The Self Publishing Agency (TSPA) in West Vancouver.
Book launch on December 11
The book will be launched on December 11 as part of the free community day in support of the launch of the new You Are Here @ The Shipyards exhibit.
MONOVA will also be offering hourly readings from 10 am to 5 pm.
MONOVA has also created a Streetcar Time Capsule where kids can leave a note or a drawing or they can tell a story they would like to share with the streetcar (Who are you? Do you have a pet? What’s your connection to this neighbourhood? What are you excited about?).
