A winter storm and snowfall warning has been issued for Coquihalla Highway, and Sea to Sky Highway.
A Pacific storm will move across the BC interior today, and hazardous winter conditions are expected on the Coquihalla.
Heavy snow will persist over the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt with the heaviest accumulation expected this afternoon.
Snow will taper off to flurries this evening as the system departs, and snow level will rise to 700 metres this afternoon.
Additional snowfall of 25 to 35 cm can be expected by Saturday morning.
Environment Canada is asking people to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Meanwhile, a snowfall warning is also in effect for Sea to Sky region.
Heavy snow has developed over Whistler and the Sea to Sky Highway north of Squamish overnight. Snow at times heavy is expected to continue this morning. Additional snowfall amounts of 5 cm are expected.
Snow will ease to a few flurries late this morning.
