After a lengthy investigation, Chilliwack RCMP has announced the arrest of Ryan Diablo, 33, in connection with the downtown shooting that occurred on February 4.
The incident happened on February 4 at 11:19 am. The Chilliwack RCMP received a report of a shooting in the 9300 block of Nowell Street in Chilliwack. Shortly after this report was received, a victim suffering severe injuries consistent with being shot arrived at the Chilliwack General Hospital.
Diablo was apprehended peacefully in Chilliwack on February 7 and now faces charges including Discharge of firearm with intent, aggravated assault, and failure to comply with court order. Investigators have confirmed that the suspect and victim were known to each other, and there is no evidence linking this incident to the ongoing Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.
“Various specialized units tirelessly pursued all leads and meticulously gathered evidence to advance this dynamic investigation,” said Cpl. Carmen Kiener emphasized the commitment of the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit to ensuring public safety. “Their dedication led to the safe apprehension of Diablo, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to the community.”
