The Rotary Club of Lionsgate, in partnership with the North Vancouver Shipyards, is set to host a family-focused Canada Day celebration on July 1st. The event will occur at the North Vancouver Shipyards from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm.
For over three decades, the Rotary Club of Lionsgate has been organizing Canada Day festivities in North Vancouver. This year, the emphasis will be on family and community engagement. Attendees can look forward to various family-friendly activities and live musical performances at Shipbuilders Square.
The musical lineup includes the JP Fell Pipe Band, Beaver Thomas, David Hartney, The Organizers, Amir Raad, Barnstormer featuring Melanie Dekker, and the ShowStoppers Vancouver. Additionally, local youth sports teams will also perform, showcasing their talents.
The event will feature a children’s play area in the Pipeshop and a beer garden on Cates Dock, pending special event permit approval. Various displays will be set up at St. Roch Landing, including Rotary Grab & Go Emergency Kits, ShelterBox, and exhibits from other local non-profit organizations and businesses. Up-to-date information on displays can be found at rotarylionsgate.com.
ShelterBox, a charity supported by Rotary, provides emergency shelters and aid to families affected by natural disasters and conflicts. The event will also highlight youth activities and a pop-up art display at Burrard Dry Dock Pier, with mentorship from Rotary, Seaspan, Girl Guides, and other community groups.
The Canada Day celebration is open to everyone, free of charge. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic baskets with refreshments and enjoy a day of community spirit and festivities at the Shipyards.
