North Shore Emergency Management (NSEM) has issued a public safety alert for North Vancouver and West Vancouver residents as swift-moving floodwaters continue to pose a significant threat across the region. The agency warns that even ankle-deep water can be dangerous and advises people to stay clear of fast-moving water, streams, creeks, rivers, and steep slopes.

In response to the widespread flooding in North Vancouver and West Vancouver, NSEM has established a reception center for displaced residents at Mickey McDougall Recreation Centre, located at 240 E 23rd Street, North Vancouver. The center is open to assist those affected by the storm.
To manage the emergency, NSEM has activated the tri-municipal emergency activation center, coordinating efforts to respond to the flooding and other related incidents. Additional staff have been deployed to support the emergency operations throughout the North Shore, and a call center is operational to manage the high volume of calls from residents.
Authorities are urging people to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Residents experiencing significant flooding inside their homes are advised to turn off power—if it is safe to do so—and call 911. Emergency services are prioritizing these calls based on urgency.
Residents can report flooding or water pooling through the “Report A Problem” platform, which will direct the information to the appropriate municipal department for action.
Additionally, NSEM is reminding those near rivers, creeks, or steep slopes to keep pets leashed and ensure children remain at a safe distance, as water levels and conditions can shift rapidly.
For real-time updates, residents are encouraged to follow North Shore Emergency Management’s social media account, @NorthShoreEMO, which will be sharing information across all three municipalities.
