Pemberton RCMP caution after thefts from vehicles at Joffre Lakes Provincial Park.
There were five incidents of theft from vehicles in Joffre Lakes Park from July 1 to July 4. Several vehicles had their windows broken and items such as wallets, paddle board, hiking gear and other personal items stolen from the park.
Most of the incidents happened in cars that were parked overnight in the area. Pemberton RCMP is recommending that people visiting the park should remove all items of value out of their vehicles to ensure they are not targets of thieves in the area.
Police also plans to increase patrols in the area.
Similar incidents were reported last month in Squamish, when several vehicles parked near the trail access to Garibaldi Provincial Park were damaged. In some of these thefts, passports were stolen along with backpacks, ignitions damaged as well as camping gear, sunglasses, keys, clothing, insurance cards, air pods and shoes stolen.
