District of North Vancouver reminds that pay parking is now in effect at the Lynn Canyon Park, from March 1 to October 1. The cost for parking is $3 per hour, with a four-hour maximum to encourage a higher visitor turnover rate.
However, District residents are eligible to purchase a $10.20 annual DNV Park Parking Pass that will enable them to park in the lot without paying the hourly rate. Vehicles with a disability decal are exempt from payment at the lot. Lynn Canyon Park has reopened after being closed due to heavy snowfall, though the suspension bridge is closed due to winter conditions. Trails are covered with snow and ice, so dress appropriately and use caution if you choose to visit the park, says DNV.
Pay parking is also in effect at Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, from March 1 to October 31 as well.
Parking will cost $2 per hour to a maximum of $12 per day. Pay parking is in effect in the paved lot, overflow lots and road shoulder at the park, though there is free parking in the east Lynn Canyon parking lot, located off the northern end of Lillooet Road near the Lower Seymour Conservation Area.
Lynn Canyon Park attracts more than one million visitors every year. During the busy summer season, traffic leads to congestion and parking overflows in nearby neighbourhoods. “The goal of this pay parking program is to help manage both the demand for parking, and traffic congestion in the park and surrounding neighbourhoods,” DNV says.
I was annoyed that after paying for a one and half hour parking pass while I still had paid time, I received a ticket! IMPARK is overstepping their authority by issuing invalid tickets at Lynn Canyon Park. I expect that I am not the only one that has arrived at their car to find the blue ticket under the front wiper. I will follow up with IMPARK as soon as their offices are open again and I will expect them to pay ME the $98 for the error!
