On Monday night, officers received a report of two men with guns near a construction site on Lonsdale Ave. Responding quickly, the officers were able to locate two men who matched the description provided in the report. Upon searching them, a replica firearm was found in their possession.
According to the police, the two men had recently purchased the replica firearm and wanted to test it by shooting a carrot in a grassy area. While they did not have any intention of causing harm, the police have continued to warn the public about the potential dangers of using replica firearms in an open setting.
Even though they may seem harmless, replica firearms can cause panic and elicit a police response. The police have reminded the public that replica firearms are not toys and should not be used in public places. They have urged people to exercise caution and be mindful of the potential consequences of their actions.
The two men involved in the incident were released without charges, but the police said they will continue to investigate and take appropriate action if necessary.
