District of North Vancouver council will discuss an application by Beva Brewing and Blending for a liquor lounge at 1405 Pemberton Avenue.
The proposed lounge is at the northwest corner of Pemberton Avenue and West 14th Street. The lounge will allow the brewery to sell and serve liquor for on-site consumption for a maximum of 70 people, patrons and staff included. Alcohol will be served in a tasting room and outdoor customer service area.
DNV staff is supportive of the proposal and say the lounge will provide a ‘unique venue’ for socializing, and help build ‘pedestrian vibrancy’ at Pemberton Avenue.
The zoning bylaw requires five parking spaces and the applicants are moving the rear wall of their building further interior to the site for that. The proposed lounge will have minimal noise impacts as it is located within a light industrial area, staff says.

“The proposed manufacturer lounge is supportable as the impact to the neighbourhood is expected to be minimal and it will provide a new and unique venue in the area that is likely to appeal to the local employment and residential community,” the staff report notes.
