The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a motor vehicle incident in West Vancouver which left a motorcyclist seriously injured.
Information provided by the BC Highway Patrol indicates that shortly after noon on July 18, police officers were conducting speed checks in the Cypress Bowl area eastbound on Highway 1 when a collision occurred between a Ford F150 and a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Officers provided medical assistance to the female motorcyclist until Emergency Health Services arrived to transport her to the hospital.
She sustained serious injuries in the collision.
The police watchdog has started an investigation to determine if police actions or inactions may have played a role in the incident.
