A 22-year-old Mission man is under arrest in an alleged sexual assault investigation that took place in Lynn Valley on February 13. Following a public alert, and a request for public assistance, an arrest was made on March 11.
Following a tip from the public, Abbotsford Police arrested the male suspect at a worksite in the South Poplar neighbourhood, in the area of McCallum Road and Highway 1 in Abbotsford.
On March 12, 2022, BC Prosecution Service approved one charge of sexual assault against 22-year-old Jairus-Paul Covacha Sacramento, of Mission.
“We are confirming the arrest of a suspect in this investigation,” said Sgt. Peter DeVries of the North Vancouver RCMP. “We asked for your help, and you came through, and we want to say thank you.”
Investigators received numerous tips from the public, said DeVries, one of which resulted in the arrest. “This is a great example of the power of the public and the police working together.”
