North Vancouver RCMP are updating the public about a police incident regarding the investigation of a sexual assault on a Lynn Valley trail that occurred on February 13.
A tip from a member of the public led to the arrest of Jairus-Paul Covacha Sacramento in Abbotsford. On June 9, Sacramento, a resident of Mission BC, was found guilty on one count of Sexual Assault following a North Vancouver Provincial Court trial.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
“This was a traumatizing incident for the victim, and impacted the community’s sense of safety said Cst. Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. “We are grateful to the public for helping bring this case to a resolution, and reaffirm our commitment to keep this community safe from those who seek to victimize others.”
If you been a victim of Sexual assault, the North Vancouver RCMP Special Victims unit is always available to those who come forward to tell their story. They can be reached at 604-985-1311.

So where specifically was it? One of the Lynn Canyon trails? One of the ones that’s either on the Baden-Powell or runs off it? Lynn Headwaters or somewhere else? That’s an extremely important detail that was left out.
For instance I saw a bear (I was about 100′ away) in a Lynn Valley park 3 weeks ago. It happened to be in Kilmer park but it would be a completely different story if it were in Mountain View Park (top of Mt Hwy) or Lynn Valley park (home of Lynn Valley Days)
Context is everything! (particularly with respect to protecting the public)

You can find your answer here: https://www.abbynews.com/news/mission-man-charged-with-sexual-assault-on-north-vancouver-trail/
“On Feb. 13, a woman was walking on the Varley Loop Trail in Lynn Canyon Park and crossing the foot bridge to Rice Lake Road when a six-foot-tall man groped her buttocks from behind, according to a public warning issued by police on Feb. 14.
Police released an image of the suspect to the public on March 10, asking for help to identify the suspect.
Subsequent tips led to Sacramento’s arrest, which occurred at a worksite in the South Poplar neighbourhood of Abbotsford.”
What does location have to do with anything? Avoiding a particular place wouldn’t make anyone any safer from a person who would assault a woman on a trail.
Bears have been traipsing all over Lynn Valley uninterrupted since time immemorial and will continue to get bolder as long as people leave attractants around for them. A bear doesn’t care whether delicious trash food smells come from Mountain View, Kilmer or the mall- none of those places are far from a green belt.

Lyle, often in these cases the details are left out to protect the victim.
