Occupants of one home affected by the mudslide remain unaccounted for, says Squamish RCMP.
“As a result of the slide, one residence is believed to have been affected. Occupants of the home remain unaccounted for,” police said in a news release.
Emergency crews, RCMP, along with Heavy Duty Search and Rescue crews from Canadian Task Force 1, are on site. Highway maintenance contractors are on scene completing a technical assessment along with Ministry of Transportation.
The highway has since reopened, but crews will remain on scene for the foreseeable time. On December 14, 2024, emergency crews in Squamish, BC, responded to a report of a mudslide, which had occurred on Highway 99 beside the Brunswick Road exit ramp.
