A 36-year-old woman who had gone off trail while hiking was successfully brought to safety by North Shore Rescue on Saturday September 21.
The female hiker had to spend the night on Crown Mountain in North Vancouver. She was spotted by the helicopter in Hanes Valley and rescued by the North Shore Rescue team with assistance from Lions Bay SAR and Coquitlam SAR.
North Shore Rescue said the hiker was well-prepared, with extra gear, food, water, and had told someone where she was going and when to expect her.
The search began when her boyfriend called police to report that she had gone missing. In this case, the hiker checked off the three T’s of going into the wilderness: Trip planning, training, and taking the essentials.
Meanwhile, the District of North Vancouver Fire Service also rescued a man from Quarry Rock after he became unconscious. He was later transported to Lions Gate Hospital.
