Sea to Sky Highway between Alice Lake and Function Junction in Whistler is closed due to treacherous driving and weather conditions.
The highway from Alice Lake to Function Junction is closed as driving conditions are treacherous. Areas of the highway are almost impassable due to a combination of bad weather, treacherous road conditions, and a number of collisions including spinouts, says Squamish RCMP.
” We strongly recommend people to stay home and not drive any other part of the highway unless absolutely essential,” says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP. “Even responders have had challenges driving the highway and accessing collision scenes due to highway conditions, weather, and visibility.”
“Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break,” says Environment Canada.
