Dust off your cowboy hat and shine up your boots cause it’s time for the Dundarave Hoedown! The Ambleside Dundarave Business Improvement Association (ADBIA) is pleased to host the annual event with the support of the businesses in Dundarave and our generous sponsors.
As is tradition, on Friday, August 23rd, the Hoedown will see Marine Drive in Dundarave closed between the 24th and 25th and transformed into a community event, filling the street with people of all ages. Now in its third year, we welcome music from The Dynamics and March Hare, local line dancers to teach folks a step or two, a photo booth, face painting, pony rides, slushies, airbrush tattoos and more!
We will have a pie-eating contest for adults and kids before The Bakehouse at 6:30 pm. If you want to participate in the pie eating contest, please sign up at The Bakehouse after 4 pm on August 23. There will be a BBQ with all proceeds to the Harvest Project, local restaurants will offer specials, and the West Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society will host the beer garden.
We’ve got even more bales of straw this year, and once the event is over, should anyone in the community want some straw for fall décor, gardening needs or animal bedding, please come by between 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm and pick up some free bales. This is also a great opportunity to check out the new ADBIA mural, Lily Alley, which was commissioned. Located between Treasure Chest Antiques and Ami Boutique, this 3D mural is undoubtedly an eyecatcher!
The ADBIA coordinates the Hoedown but also made it possible with the support of sponsors, including MacLean Homes, Peake & Richmond Insurance, Westerleigh Parc, Brimming Development, British Pacific Properties, Rennie Marketing, Chartwell Retirement Residences, and Watson Goepel.
The event runs from 4 pm until 9 pm. All businesses will be open as usual, although Marine Drive in Dundarave will be closed to through traffic from 11 am to 11 pm. Parking in the area is limited, and we encourage visitors to walk or bike if possible. We also thank the West Vancouver School District for opening up the gravel field at Irwin Park School to allow for extra parking.
