District of North Vancouver has reopened Lynn Canyon Park, though some trails remain closed. Lynn Canyon was closed yesterday due to high, rushing waters and the risk of falling tree branches.
The Baden Powell Trail on the west side of the canyon is closed due to damage from the storm.
DNV continues to monitor rivers and creeks and water levels remain very high.
Crews continue to inspect trails and will open them when the trail is considered to be safe.
“We ask residents to respect trail closure signs and to stay away from the water’s edge – high water flow can undermine the stability of creek and river banks. We also ask that people stay away from forested areas due to ongoing hazards related to yesterday’s storm,” said DNV communication coordinator Cassie Brondgeest.
