The District of North Vancouver has declared a local emergency and issued a mandatory evacuation order for six properties on Panorama Drive in Deep Cove.
The state of local emergency order and resulting evacuation come after inspections by qualified professionals during the morning of October 20 found that potential failure of private infrastructure is deemed to create a risk to public safety.
The decision to declare a state of local emergency and issue a mandatory evacuation is not taken lightly. Due to the impacts of the extreme rainfall event and flooding on October 19 and the continued rainfall on October 20, the Mayor of the District of North Vancouver signed the state of local emergency order and mandatory evacuation this evening.
The residents of these properties are eligible to receive Emergency Support Services (ESS) to support the evacuation through the North Shore Emergency Management office (NSEM), should they request assistance with temporary relocation.
