A distraught man was arrested after a tense standoff in North Vancouver that prompted a major police response and shut down a Deep Cove street over the weekend.
Around 1:30 p.m. on February 15, 2025, North Vancouver RCMP received reports of a man with a gun in a vehicle in the 4600 block of Eastridge Road. Due to his mental state and potential for violence, the Integrated Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators were called in. Police temporarily closed the area and advised residents to stay indoors.
Multiple specialized police units were called, and shortly before 5 pm, officers arrested the man under the Mental Health Act and took him to the hospital for treatment.
“This incident required a highly coordinated response due to the potential risk to public safety,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for North Vancouver RCMP. “The Integrated Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators are highly trained in handling dynamic and evolving situations like this.”
