On Monday, November 25, 2024, the District of West Vancouver granted final approval for the transformational Cypress Village development. In a press release, the company said the decision clears the way for British Pacific Properties to proceed with this landmark project, including transferring 262 acres of Eagleridge parkland to the District.
West Vancouver Council adopted the bylaws that give effect to the Cypress Village & Eagleridge Area Development Plan, this following third reading on June 25, 2024. While the third reading of the bylaws established conditional approval for the project, Final Adoption confirms all pre-conditions have been met, including legal agreements, making the project fully approved to advance to implementation.
“This is a monumental step for British Pacific Properties and for the future of West Vancouver,” said Geoff Croll, President of BPP. “The Cypress Village and Eagleridge Plan represent a commitment to creating a walkable, environmentally conscious, mountain-side community that provides much-needed housing and amenities while preserving significant natural areas. I want to thank everyone involved in the process that led to the creation of this legacy project that will benefit our community for generations to come.”
The plan includes a diverse range of 3,711 new housing units, including market and below-market rentals, and dedicates 262 acres of Eagleridge as parkland for the community in perpetuity, along with the protection of 100 acres of green space in Cypress Village for conservation and recreation.
Over the next 25 years, the phased development will establish a vibrant, mixed-use neighbourhood above the Upper Levels Highway, with low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise buildings, commercial spaces, a community centre, a fire hall, space for an elementary school and a dedicated BPP-funded transit service.
The next milestone will occur in the coming weeks with the formal transfer of 262 acres of parkland – Eagleridge – to the District of West Vancouver. British Pacific Properties is proud to continue its 93-year legacy in West Vancouver by delivering a project that reflects the community’s values and future aspirations.
