Since April 1, BC Wildfire Service crews have battled as many as 1,539 wildfires in the province. There are 246 wildfires currently burning in BC.
There are 3,409 firefighters are currently fighting the fires, and as many as 188 helicopters and planes are supporting the fire suppression.
In the most recent update, BC Wildfire Service said the Mt. Hayes fire outside of Ladysmith is now classified as Being Held. A fire that is Being Held has received sufficient suppression action that it is not likely to spread further under forecasted conditions.
Meanwhile, Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has rescinded the evacuation order in Electoral Areas A and B, though an evacuation alert remains in place for many areas in Electoral Area B due to McKay Creek.
As many as 62 evacuation orders have been issued so far in the province, and 112 evacuation alerts have also been issued.
