The City of North Vancouver is set to plant around 100 new street trees across public boulevards this fall as part of the annual Living City Street Tree Planting Program. In a press release, CNV said tree planting will kick off in early November and wrap up by February 2025.
Each planting site will be marked with signage to inform residents.
The City annually reviews areas that could benefit from more trees, prioritizing sites with the space and soil conditions essential for growth. Tree species are selected to complement neighborhood character and local environmental conditions, with resilience to climate change also considered. This careful planning supports the long-term health and sustainability of North Vancouver’s urban forest.
North Vancouver currently manages over 9,800 trees in parks and boulevards, with 65 percent of the city’s tree canopy on public land. An Urban Forest Plan is underway to ensure the ongoing health of these trees over the next 30 years.
