The City of North Vancouver has appointed Greg Schalk as the new fire chief of the City of North Vancouver Fire Department.
Schalk joined CNV as a firefighter in 2000 and became a Lieutenant in 2014. He was instrumental in developing the North Shore Rapid Intervention Team Program and the North Vancouver Blue Card Incident Command Program.
In his new role, Schalk will oversee all city fire operations, fire prevention and inspection, business administration and fire service delivery, as well as oversight of the City’s emergency planning and response program in collaboration with the North Shore Emergency Management Office (NSEM).
“I’m very pleased to have Chief Schalk lead our City’s highly respected and progressive Fire Department,” said Mayor Linda Buchanan.
“Greg’s experience, professionalism and dedication will serve our community well and allow us to continue to provide the highest level of fire related emergency services to protect the life and property of City residents.”
Schalk begins his new role this week, replacing outgoing Fire Chief Dan Pistilli, who retired after eight years with the City of North Vancouver Fire Department.
