BC United has announced Caroline Elliott as the party’s candidate in West Vancouver-Capilano, following current MLA Karin Kirkpatrick’s decision not to seek re-election.
Caroline is a long-time public commentator on provincial and national media platforms and a Ph.D. Candidate at Simon Fraser University in democratic theory and the Canadian government, and a consultant providing communications and policy advice to clients from the clean power and forestry sectors to large infrastructure projects and more.
She previously worked with BC Hydro, helping to advance the Site C project, and, early in her career, she served as ministerial staff at the B.C. Legislature. Until recently, Caroline served as Vice President of BC United.
“As BC United’s West Vancouver-Capilano candidate, I will continue to push for a principled, outcomes-based approach to governance that looks beyond the four-year election cycle to the next generation and the ones after that,” said Elliott. “That means taking less of people’s hard-earned money and using it better, not leaving debts for our kids to pay off. It means health care that can provide for this generation and the next. And it means standing up for commuters by refusing to leave the North Shore in gridlock, getting started on infrastructure today that will serve for decades to come.”

“It is time for a younger generation to meet the serious challenges facing B.C., not least of which is government straying badly from good government,” said Ralph Sultan, who served as West Vancouver-Capilano MLA for nearly two decades. “Caroline Elliott, an outstanding person, has stepped forward to represent West Vancouver-Capilano in the Provincial Legislature; I have followed her commentary on Global TV and her writing on important issues. She doesn’t shy away from addressing tough issues impacting us all. Mother of two, PhD Candidate, and no novice in politics, Caroline will get my vote when Mr. Eby, sooner or later, goes to the polls.”
