The passengers on a boat that caught fire and sank off the coast of Indian Arm near Deep Cove were rescued by the Canadian Coast Guard.
The incident happened this Saturday, January 18, in the afternoon. In an email, the Maritime Forces Pacific Public Affairs, said the centre received a call about a pleasure craft on fire off the coast of Indian Arm near Deep Cove. The call came around noon and the boat continued to burn until 4:30 pm and then sank into the waters.
The centre dispatched two boats to respond, but the people on board the vessel craft had already been rescued by the Canadian Coast Guard vessel of opportunity.
“The Coast Guard vessels secured the area and monitored the pleasure craft as it sank. The case has now been passed to the BC Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness,” the email statement.
