A car caught fire on Highway 1 in North Vancouver, but fortunately, the three people inside managed to escape unharmed.
The incident occurred around 6:30 am on February 9 near the Lynn Valley exit on the Upper Levels Highway. Emergency responders were called to the scene, and two fire trucks quickly extinguished the flames.
According to City of North Vancouver Fire Department Deputy Chief Andrew Payn, the car was engulfed in flames when firefighters responded to the incident. The car’s occupants heard a clunk and a bang before the engine light came on, which prompted them to pull over, he told North Shore News.

He noted that they did the right thing by exiting the vehicle and not attempting to put out the fire themselves. As a result of the incident, one lane of eastbound traffic on Highway 1 was closed, but everything was cleared up by 7:30 am, as confirmed by Drive BC.
